Photo of the Day: Day 14

On a recent trip to Columbia, we visited El Totumo, a mud volcano. Mud volcanoes exist in many parts of the world, and are the result of various geologic processes. El Totumo is about 50 feet high and is filled with mud that is said to have medicinal value. Caleb did not enjoy our dip in the mud bath one bit and so my time in the crater was short-lived. However, I was inside long enough to report that it felt very much as if we had plunged ourselves into a vat of chocolate pudding -- it was squishy and cool and made us very buoyant. Isaac was very content playing in the mud and he and Kenny enjoyed their exfoliating swim for quite awhile. After getting muddy from head to toe, we headed down to a nearby river and were washed by some local women. They whipped off our suits and scrubbed us down -- we were too stunned to protest, but also very clean when the "bathing" was over.

Man alive, Linsey! I see people put on their blogs the phrase "Living life to the fullest," which quite frankly, usually comes across as cheezy and trite. You absolutely put them all to shame! Hello? A MUD volcano?!?!? How awesome is that!

When you began this photo series you said something along the lines of...that even though you may not have been blogging about life you had indeed been living it.

Whoa...so, so, true. You have seen some wonderous things. It is so neat that you have gotten to experience them as a family.

I actually want to go and get muddy now.

Nothing like a stranger giving you and your family a nice scrub down.

That is the COOLEST! Can we trade lives for a few weeks? I want to have a mud bath and see a Tapir. You can have the snow & ice.

Can't believe the ladies stripped you naked for a scrub in the river? That is crazy. Bet your skin felt good after though, right?
