All Smiles

I know we owe our faithful readers an update and I promise a summary of the last month is forthcoming, but in the meantime, here are some pictures of Caleb and Isaac (well, mostly Isaac) smiling from ear to ear. Warning: This is a post you might have to be a grandparent to truly appreciate.

March 17th

You might be surprised, though you shouldn't be, to learn that Peruvians don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I am willing to hazard a guess that not even a measurable percentage of their population has any Irish heritage and so today has come and gone with nary a mention. Thank goodness for Direct TV or I too might have missed this day of homage to St. Patrick, the young boy captured and enslaved by the Irish who would eventually become a teacher of Christianity and their favorite Saint. To my dismay, our version of Direct TV offers only CNN International and Fox News in the way of news channels (I am a news lover and soaked up as much MSNBC, CNN, FOX, local and national newscasts in the morning and evening as I could during my recent stay in the US). CNN International is a little much at times focusing not enough on the US presidential elections for my tastes and all too often (for just cause I'm sure) running in-depth pieces on child pornography in Southeast Asia and FOX is what I like to call "news light" (Kenny thinks of it as right-wing vomit, but I am not that critical). While watching FOX this morning I chanced upon the image below and the significance of the day was immediately evident. I will reserve any personal comments about the subject of the photo and will say just this...I have seen scarves like these many times, usually in the gift shops near Times Square rife with all manner of tacky tourist paraphenalia...apparently the answer to my oft asked question "who buys this junk" is "the would-be President of the United States." Maybe a green jacket would have been a better choice?

Gray Skies Are Gonna Clear Up

Do you ever have the feeling that winter will never end? That the sun will be perpetually hidden behind a bank of lead gray clouds? That the snow will never melt? If you've answered yes, then you've got company. This winter has been long and cold, very cold, and we have spent much of it inside coming up with creative ways to pass the time. But, as evidenced by our latest indoor activity, the well has apparently run dry.

Thank goodness we have been rescued from even more insane goings on with a change in the weather...
