Late last week Caleb and I went out for a few hours to have Caleb and Mommy time. First, we took a taxi (Caleb's favorite thing to do - probably because there are no carseats involved - I know what you're thinking, and I've thought all of those same things myself and suffice it to say I have been able to rationalize taking him out sans car seat occasionally - so I do not need a slew of comments about how foolish, unsafe, illegal - though, not in Peru - I am being). Then we went to the shoe place - look for a future post dedicated to this adventure. After that we went to the park to watch the paragliders,
play on the jungle gym;
slide;
and; swing.
Then we went to Larco Mar, an outdoor shopping center built on the edge of cliffs
overlooking the Pacific Ocean,
to play some arcade games
and ride a few rides.
Next, we had a very delicious and nutritious lunch here,
and I made Caleb wear this crown, against his will (until he saw the after shot on the camera and decided it was pretty cool).
Then we rode the escalators about 8000 times and I ran to the bottom on the last ride to snap a quick shot.
Finally, we took another taxi home and Caleb fell asleep exhausted from our eventful outing.

And people say there is nothing to do in Peru.
"What people say this?" You wonder. Don't know but I am sure they are out there. I'll send them here when next I meet them.
Love you.
my favorites:
caleb loves taxis!
caleb in the kfc crown!
Looks like a dreamy outing! Fun times...Although I wish there was a shot of you running to the bottom of the escalator real quick. You'll have to train Caleb in the art of photography.
You are the funnest mom!
Aren't you a fan of the tv show Friends? The blog should have been titled, "Caleb and Linsey's DAY OF FUN!" (Name that episode!)
I can't show Ruby this blog post because she thinks it is special when I take her to Rafik's corner market on her tricycle to buy a gummy crocodile without the little buddy. But hey, I can live on the wild side too. Sometimes, we go out, sans helmet!
Caleb's a lucky boy. KFC crown AND escalator ride 8000 times?! I love duo outings.
Caleb's such a little man - we just love him! What a memorable day out with mom. I love seeing Peru through your eyes!
Cute! He is getting SO big. Cant wait for you guys to come.
He's getting so big! Even since November he has grown so much. Can't wait to see you all in person.
What kind of car is that? There is no leg room!!! KFC in Peru, who knew? Is it true that Gerbils are a delicacy there? Are you sure it isn't KFG? It's fun to see pictures like yours, when Missionaries come back it's only poverty and mud pictures, Peru looks very modern!!
he looks soo happy! And I will talk to my husband abotu Caracus cause I know it can be dangerous... that is actually why they moved... it was getting to bad for Americans. He lived it Caracus and Valencia also... and well.. Brazil, Chile, Argentina. and so on.... So he will know some cool things. I'll ask him tonight :)
I can't wait for the shoe shopping post...tomorrow is Shoesday! You are a fun mom!
So, um, do they actually use chicken at the Lima KFC?
I'm KIDDING.
What a good mom and what a smart mom for taking lots of pictures to document for future reference should Caleb claim otherwise.
Now that is what I call a, Day Out!
I love that last picture of him giggling :)
I never like my kids more, than when I have them all alone!
We can't wait to see you and the boys this summer. They are getting so big so fast :(
You and I are on the same page when it comes to those tacky little wedding present things. I knew we were meant to be friends!
How fun!! Peru looks like a cool place! I don't know if I will ever visit, but now that I know there is KFC I am more inclined to go! ;)
Peru looks like fun! What a cool adventure for a child to get to learn about such different cultures!
So fun to see the pics and see what you are all up to! I'll have to check more often, I think I'm way behind!!
What a fun day out. I have to say that seeing these pictures made me feel a little homesick for Peru. There are some days that I really wish I could go back...not permanently, but just for a little while. like today, when I'm looking at my hands and see the suffering they have had from weeks of packing, cleaning, unpacking, projects, etc....and they could really use a good, cheap manicure! I can't believe you guys are out of there in 6 days. What a bittersweet time.
